I still can't believe it, looking back. It's been quite a ride. I have a lot of people to thank for helping me chase this crazy idea.

Athletics is a very selfish pursuit. I wake up every morning and as I get ready for the day, I ask myself, how can I be the best in the world. So after years of this, and people sacrificing so I can be the best in the world, I think it's imperative for me or anybody else who reaches a pinnacle in their careers to reach out a hand for somebody else.
eyeballs gets good learn people positive watching
If it gets eyeballs watching the sport, if there are people who watch our sport and can take something positive from it to learn about the sport, then it's good for all of us that we get more coverage.

If it draws more people into the sport and gets them interested, it's a good thing for us. I just hope we can capitalize on this, to get more young people in.

I really hoped, regardless of my outcome, that I'd be able to inspire other people to contribute. What little bit I could do is a small drop in the bucket as compared to what many people can do. So that was an important part for me, and that's what I hoped would happen.

I'm proud of where I came from. There are so many people from North Carolina who have wished me well. It means a lot that so many people who have had so much influence on my life are watching now.

I skate in circles. I have to keep that in perspective. I love what I do. I love to race and to travel and to compete, but let's face it, I wear tights and I make left turns.

You always dream it would come together, and it has. I don't even know if it has hit me yet, but it's a great experience, something I'll remember forever.

When I think of the 2002 Olympics, I don't know if I was really as appreciative as I am now. The only impression I want to leave here is just how grateful I am to get this chance again.
