defense effort flying looking number offense overall stepped
I thought our defense stepped up, ... We had a number of takeaways, which is what we are looking for, and for the most part we were flying to the ball. Not that the offense didn't score, but overall it was a much better effort by the defense.
assistant best excited football friend great jim loyal major national next phase played role success wish
Jim has been a loyal assistant and a great friend for some 13 years. He played a major role in our success at Wyoming and Purdue. I know he's excited about this next phase of his career, and we wish him nothing but the best in the National Football League.
geared option
I think everyone is kind of geared to go out there and see option football,
best certainly holds kevin luck since
Kevin Noel, at the time, was a high-profile recruit, but has not had the best of luck since he's been here, ... If he holds it together, he could certainly be a big contributor.
factor graduate hate single
I would say it's the single most important factor of (a team), ... You hate to put it all on one position, but if you told me, 'OK Tiller, you're going to graduate 21 of your 22 starters. Which one don't you want graduating?' It'd be the quarterback.
assistant coaching cut detail gone graduate great guy job teeth thrilled
Joel did a great job as a graduate assistant here and has gone on to cut his teeth in the coaching profession. He's a detail guy with a lot of energy, and we're thrilled to have him back at Purdue.
hand helps
I think it helps because you have an experienced hand in there.
according early energy game guys improve late later level maybe pick playing quarter result second substitute team until wait
I think that maybe if those guys get more playing time, they'll improve and the energy level will pick up and we can become a better team as a result of doing that. That was according to plan. We weren't going to wait until late second quarter to substitute or later in the game to substitute; we wanted to substitute early and often.
couple option plays run running spread throw
I think we're going to run a couple of options, but I don't see us going out there and running 40 option plays in a game. We're still a spread offense, and we're going to throw it around.
defensive ends matt programs roth starter
I think the two programs are very close. But they've had (recently graduated) Matt Roth as a four-year starter at defensive end and he's a big defensive end. Our defensive ends had been undersized defensive ends. Now, we've got big defensive ends.

accuracy hoped looked maybe passes pleased spark
We looked for something to give us a spark and hoped that maybe it would work,'' said Tiller, who wasn't pleased with the accuracy of Kirsch's passes for most of the game.
ball last red ruled score three time turned turning zone
Particularly turning the ball over where we turned it over, three times in the red zone in the first half. Particularly to turn the ball over and have it ruled as a touchback. I think it was 1970 the last time we were going in to score and fumbled into and out of the end zone for a touchback.
seem woody
Glen just can't seem to get the Woody Hayes out of him,
