gets healthy pitching shape spring sure time worry
I don't make much of pitching in spring training. We don't worry about it. We want to make sure he's healthy and gets in shape and then he'll be dialed in once it's time to start.
coming cost defensive eighth great mind rushed shame
I don't mind him coming home. We're going to get one out, but he rushed it. We made some great defensive plays. It's a shame that the little things we didn't do in the eighth cost us.
bad feet guys head learn next resilient sit
I don't like to sit guys down after a bad day. It makes them feel like they're being punished. I told him to keep his head up, learn from it -- and set his feet the next time. He's a resilient kid.
ball believe robert start
I believe Robert is a big-league ball player. He will be a big-leaguer, but right now we are going to start with Hanley.
center field fly gives minor options played top
Alfie, he can do some things with the bat. He gives us some different options at the top of the order. He played some center field in the minor leagues, he can play fly balls.
ask beaten catch entire games guy obviously productive sure tough year
You obviously have to be productive to be in the lineup every day. We want to make sure he is productive the entire year. It's tough to ask a guy to catch 120 games a year when he hasn't done it before. He's just not used to that, getting beaten up and fatigued.
bounce fans guys smart today win
Young guys bounce back. Fans are smart enough to know you're not going to win every game. I think everyone that was here today will be back at some point.
bad bit happier looked nervous saw
It looked bad at first. I was real nervous. I think the whole organization got real nervous when we saw that. But I think we were all a little bit happier when he got up.
guys innings less
It kind of dumps one of the guys out of the rotation, in a sense. There'll just be some less innings for some guys now, because he's got to get his innings in.
ball bit breaking easy pitcher point score seemed
It seemed like the left-handed breaking ball was a little bit more of a strikeout pitcher than the right-handed breaking ball. The point I made is that it's not easy to score runs.
experience fit knowledge needed playing role
It's disappointing. He fit that role that we needed really well, with a lot of experience and a lot of knowledge of playing the position.
home jumping
It was kind of calm. I didn't see them jumping up and down at home plate. They were good.
school player yankees
I want players to look neat and responsible. Maybe it's old school, but it's kind of neat when people are always clean.
team real winning
Derek Jeter has been a great representative of what the Yankees have stood for over the years. He has been a team player who has only cared about winning. He has also been a fine example both on and off the field over his long tenure as a Yankee. It has been a real pleasure to manage him and play alongside him.
