against anybody competing confidence learning matters winning
It matters a lot. Because they're competing against each other and competing against the other team, it's important for them to get confidence to know that they can play at this level. And once you play at this level, winning is important. Anybody can go out there and lose, but to me learning how to play is learning how to win.
competing kids pressure situation
It's a pressure situation every day for these kids because they see they're competing for a job.
seemed top
It's kind of mind-boggling to us because he seemed to be on top of his game. I know he's much better than that.
game last locks seemed seen starts top twice
It's kind of mind-boggling because he seemed to be on top of his game tonight. He's done it twice in his last two starts and the organization has never seen him do that. He usually locks in and focuses more.
camp days last nature
It's going to come down to the last days and that makes it tough. That's the nature of our camp this year.
good help
It's going to be down to the wire, but he's done nothing but help his case. He's got some awfully good upside.
fun guys watch
It's fun to watch guys have progress. There's nothing better.
hit losses three winning
It's frustrating to be 1-4 because it could have been 4-1. And that's the frustrating part. It could have been 3-2, 2-3. Three of the losses you're one hit away from winning the game.
ball deep huge letting miss pitches swing
It's huge because when you're able to do that usually you don't get in long slumps. Usually you don't swing and miss a lot because you're letting the ball get deep on you, you see the ball and you're able to read pitches well.
drove hitters pitchers season shows stands stayed
It shows me he doesn't budge on lefties. He stands in there. Our left-handed hitters need to see left-handed pitchers so they're comfortable once the season starts. He stayed right in there. I think it was an 11-pitch at-bat. The 11th pitch, he drove it. That's what I want to see.
great ride seems
It's been a great ride for me, ... and it just seems to get better and better.
chris good guys hard playing trying younger
It's just (that) we're trying to get a good look at the two younger guys at center. If you're playing Chris out there a lot it's hard to get a good look at them.
days season
It's embarrassing. We can't keep making mistakes. We're 17 days into the season now.
days seventeen
It's embarrassing. We can't keep making mistakes. Seventeen days in, we can't keep making mistakes.
