beat bit box coming extra hit kept leave people played run stop team vulnerable
When you have to play extra people in the box to stop his run it's going to leave you a bit vulnerable to the pass. I thought he played hard. He kept getting hit and beat up and kept coming back. And his team won.
gets gotten hit preferred ready snaps soon white
I would have preferred that he had gotten some live snaps and some live butterflies (last week), but that's not the case. As soon as he gets hit by one of those white helmets, he'll be ready to go.
enemy fast guy guys hit hole instincts maybe nice run sideways straight teddy
When there's a little hole there, it's nice to go straight ahead. When there's another jersey, the instinctive part of any fast guy ... is maybe run sideways once too often. But that's the instincts fast guys have, that they can run around enemy jerseys. But you see a hole, hit it. That's what Teddy did.
almost believes call cutting good guy hit home result risk runs seen ted tries trying
I think Ted is a guy who believes he can find a way to hit the home run, and he's hit home runs many times, ... He didn't Saturday, but sometimes that's the risk you take, cutting back. I don't know that I would call that hesitancy. For him, it's almost like he's trying to make a big play. To me, hesitancy is you go up and you stop. He doesn't stop. He tries to sidestep and I think we've all seen that work. We've also seen that not work, but that's a result of good coverage.
allow attack bit college evolution football good guys hit league people pros quite spread throw
I think in this day and age, you've got to be able to attack with a lot of different things. There are so many good guys out there that can throw and catch, and the evolution of football -- there's so many good ideas. Sometimes, things trickle down a little bit from the pros. Now, the pros don't allow their quarterback to get hit quite as much as we do in college football in our spread offenses and so forth, but I just think because people are so well-schooled on defense, you've got to give them more problems. I think if you have that as part of your package, it can give you a chance. Some of the people in our league do it very, very well.
happens hit job loves ought surprised talent weight works
He's amazing. All he does is work. He loves it, loves practice, loves the weight room, loves to hit people. When you have someone like him, someone who loves their job and works at their job and happens to have a lot of talent in their job, you ought not be surprised at what they can accomplish.
confidence enthusiasm excellent good happens hitting kids ohio perhaps small state step tradition uphold
These kids are competitive; I thought the hitting and enthusiasm (on defense) was good. But real confidence happens over time. Perhaps we made a small step in that regard. These kids want to be good and uphold the tradition of excellent Ohio State defense.
against ahead fun game hard impact line mostly normal northern practices spring time
We always say the spring game is mostly fun because you've been working hard and now you get to compete. Any time you keep score, you'd like to win. It's probably a little more impact than a normal spring practice. But they (the players) all know we've got 29 practices ahead of us before we line up for real against Northern Illinois.
penn state
We always look at Penn State as good,
along chasing coming defensive gotten great line standing ted
There have been times I thought we could have gotten him the ball, but I'm standing there with a (video) clicker. I'm not standing back there with a defensive line chasing me. I think Ted is coming along and is going to be a great one.
capable next winning
We think we're capable of winning every game. It's disappointing. We didn't get this one done. And we have to get after it next week.
We had 617 yards, so there were some other important plays.
believe continues good improve player work
We believe if he continues to improve and work hard, he can be a very, very good player for us.
learn plays tape valuable week
This week was very valuable in that he got 71 snaps. He got a lot of plays on tape and a lot of things he can learn from.
