car chief conversation crew decent himself knew
We knew he was going to have a decent conversation with the crew chief of the other car and he did. He conducted himself in a professional fashion.
affecting affects cars drive fans fuel price
The price of fuel right now is affecting us just like it affects every other American, ... It affects our teams, fans and all of us who drive cars to and from work.
best cars decide equal innovative served strategy teams
We want the drivers, the crews and the strategy to decide a race, not some little innovative deal. We want the cars to be as equal as can be and let the best teams win. That has served the sport pretty well to date.
bad care drivers everywhere hesitant likes period rivalry time year
I think today's drivers are hesitant to get into a rivalry because they could be the bad guy. Look at Jimmie Johnson. There was a period of time here this year he was booed everywhere he went. No one likes to be booed. I don't care who you are.
cars daytona happen input research scientific shade sure whatever
We have to make sure that whatever we do to the cars that it is scientific and not shade tree. We have thought about this before I think we will wrench up the research and get a lot more input but I don't think it will happen before the Daytona 500.
car difference drive name
Everyone knows, sponsorships drive this sport, ... There's a difference between a car going around with a name on it and a 30-second commercial.
across cars country fact forth fuel nfl ours planes races team took typical
It was just the fact that ours (fuel use) was so visible; our cars used gas. If you took a typical NFL weekend, with planes criss-crossing the country with teams, one team would use as much or more fuel back and forth across the country than we would in 10 races or so.
cars daytona happen instead less research safe scientific shade solution sure whatever
It's become a problem. We know it's a problem. Any solution that we look for, we have to make sure we don't make the cars less safe instead of more safe. That's the No. 1 thing ... We've got to make sure that whatever we do to cars that it's scientific and not shade tree. We've thought about this before. I think we'll ratchet up the research and get a lot more input, but I don't think it will happen before the Daytona 500.
cars date less safe solution sure
It's become a problem, and we know it's a problem, but any solution we come up with to date we have to make sure we don't make the cars any less safe than more safe.
advantage areas everybody expect fair gray looking teams
There are gray areas we expect teams to exploit. We know everybody is looking for every little advantage. But when these templates don't fit, they don't fit. It's not fair to the other competitors to let one team get way with it.
call everybody fine fun honest move nascar people
There is a conflict, to be honest about it. It's a fine line, and everybody has an opinion. People call Nascar the 'moral police' or 'the fun police,' but we have to do what we think is right and move on.
gray matter perfectly rules somebody
To be perfectly honest, absolutely. That's one thing about our sport: No matter what the rules are, if there's any gray anywhere, somebody is going to find a way to use it to their advantage.
control driver might officials provide reasonably situation spark
We don't want a driver to provide a spark that might make a situation worse. Busch did come to the officials and was reasonably in control of himself.
continued
Under the situation, I don't think the 9 could have continued anyway, but the 9 was parked.
