James Patrick "Jim" Edmondsis an American former center fielder in Major League Baseball and a current broadcaster for Fox Sports Midwest. He played for the California/Anaheim Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds. Known for his defensive abilities – particularly his catches – Edmonds also was a prolific hitter, batting .284 with 393 home runs and an on-base plus slugging percentageof .903. He is affectionately known by Cardinal fans as "Jimmy Baseball" ...

I was trying to hit on top of the ball. That was making me hit the ball out front. I did it so much it turned into my swing. That's not me. When I hit the ball to left-center field, I'm not trying to hit it there. It's just my natural swing.
I was trying to figure out where the balls and strikes and the outs are posted today. Those are things you get comfortable with as a player. When you have to start looking for them all over again, it takes some adjusting.
I think, I've been trying to dictate where I want the ball to go.
Obviously, I'm not hitting the way I want. So, I was trying to make it up for it on defense.
My season is kind of a wash as far as some of the numbers. I'm really just trying to go out there and get prepared for what's to come. That's really it right now.
It's been a tough year for me. Basically, I was just trying to put the ball in play.
There really wasn't one thing, it was just over time and trying to do some different workouts. They say it's kind of common to get tennis elbow, and when you're old like me ...
I was just trying to get comfortable with how I was going to approach the end of my career. I wasn't asking for it. I was asking what the timing might be.
It's nice. We're trying to really be careful and not get it out of control. We're working toward the goal of winning the World Series. This is a good step.
I just saw him kick it one time and I thought, well, they're going to be more concentrating on trying to get the guy at the plate. I just kept running.
Right now they are overloaded in terms of manpower.

A total professional who everybody respects. No matter what happens, he never complains. He's a competitor. He's the kind of guy you want on your team.
Did we lose or did we win? ... It's something that you've got to see to believe it. You really do. People back home ask me about this place and I tell them, 'You've got to come see it to believe it.' I don't think you can describe the power of these people that come to the game day in and day out, and the support they give you. It really makes you go out there and play harder, play better and basically be a better person just because you know they're watching.
