If (a racer) gets a chance to race more, he'll do a better job for you. If they put themselves in a situation with good equipment, it doesn't worry me. What worries me is the off-the-track stuff. Carl Edwards is off jumping dirt bikes now. That worries me.

We need to be here twice a year. If we have the kind of racing that we're having, and if it gets the coverage that I'm sure it will receive, over a period of time we'll be able to fill the stands.

Fact is, Carl is a young man of great potential and enthusiasm. He's on a learning curve that's straight up and it'd be more likely he'd have a great result this year than it was him having a great result last year. He doesn't need to focus on not losing, he doesn't need to focus on hanging on, he just needs to go out and do what's natural, which is what got him where he is.

He's got the maturity to know this is a cyclical business with ups and downs and he was not gonna give up on the good thing he thought he had going when it was down and he was gonna wait for it to turn and it has. We've probably had more conversation in the last 10 days than we've had in the last 10 years, and I don't know if that's good or bad for the rest of the competition and for what Brian and/or NASCAR would otherwise be trying to accomplish. We've had some things that have struck here and there. If you look at the way this is going to shake out, the points starting the Chase were so close for all 10 competitors and the performance of the cars are so close that this issue is being resolved by who has trouble.
