Brad couldn't have rolled it out there better. But we got a couple guys on with some hits and some walks and we put ourselves in a position to win. I think that was a really good first victory.

I've never coached or played a game that I've felt that way. Too many coaches and athletes tend to take that side, that it just isn't their day. I say make it your day.

You always think you can win every game, but after last season making the tournament is our objective at this point. Jason is good enough to beat anybody.

We're not beating that team if they're shooting like that . . . they play hard. I was very pleased with our kids, though. They surely didn't back down or give in.

I told the kids I was proud of them. I don't think losing is part of their thought process. I don't mean that from a boastful standpoint. They just feel as long as there's time left, there's an opportunity to win.

They had more bodies to throw at us, seasoned guys. I hope by the middle of next year we're close to where those guys are.

I take the blame for it in the first half. I was very emotional. The way things were going, I wasn't pleased.

He didn't play that much and he was really a skinny kid. He had the natural tools. He had good size, he could run ? stuff I'm sure the Yankees saw over time when others maybe didn't. But you couldn't tell.

That competition has helped us. We'll be as prepared as we can be, but the time off will really help us, too. We needed a rest.

I think our inexperience and our youth is really starting to catch up with us a little bit. Proctor will be ready to go.
