work men sky
Every man is better for a period of work under the open sky.
party political poet
Political parties are like poets, born, not made.
flower thinking green-fields
When one speaks of increasing power, machinery, and industry there comes up a picture of a cold, metallic sort of world in which great factories will drive away the trees, the flowers, the birds, and the green fields. And that then we shall have a world composed of metal machines and human machines. With all of that I do not agree. I think that unless we know more about the machines and their use, unless we better understand the mechanical portion of life, we cannot have the time to enjoy the trees, and the birds, and the flowers, and the green fields.
civilization mind ease
In my mind nothing is more abhorrent than a life of ease. None of us has any right to ease. There is no place in civilization for the idler.
men earth labor
Labour is the human element which makes the fruitful seasons of the earth useful to men.
thinking ideas valuable
Ideas are of themselves extraordinarily valuable, but an idea is just an idea. Almost anyone can think up an idea. The thing that counts is developing it into a practical product.
race forever half
The human race cannot forever exist half-exploiters and half-exploited.
mean competition good-man
I found that competition was supposed to be a menace and that a good manager circumvented his competitors by getting a monopoly by artificial means.
motivational real school
All Fords are exactly alike, but no two men are just alike. Every new life is a new thing under the sun; there has never been anything just like it before, never will be again. A young man ought to get that idea about himself; he should look for the single spark of individuality that makes him different from other folks, and develop that for all he is worth. Society and schools may try to iron it out of him; their tendency is to put it all in the same mold, but I say don't let that spark be lost; it is your only real claim to importance.
confused progress fever
Change is not always progress.... A fever of newness had been everywhere confused with the spirit of progress.
running mean fuel
Wealth is nothing more or less than a tool to do things with. It is like the fuel that runs the furnace or the belt that runs the wheel - only a means to an end.
men funeral details
The man who is too set to change is dead already. The funeral is a mere detail.
feet able attention
A business which can bring itself to the point where it attracts the attention of money should be able to continue on its own feet without being financed.
strong business believe
Women do not win formula one races, because they simply are not strong enough to resist the G-forces. In the boardroom, it is different. I believe women are better able to marshal their thoughts than men and because they are less egotistical they make fewer assumptions.
