The one kid just about killed us. Union has six just like him, and we play them Saturday, so it's not like we haven't been working on holding runners in practice. We worked on it a good hour yesterday and still couldn't throw him out.

That 60 feet and 6 inches, it can keep us in the game when we throw well, and when we don't we won't fare so well. We did not swing the bats bad from being off a week. We swung a lot better in the second game. We just need to keep plugging away.

The sixth inning was a big inning. That was huge. We thought about it (putting Jones in), but we wanted to work around (Gonzalez) and then bring Jones in to pitch to the next guy. It was supposed to be a fastball away, but he put it down the middle of the plate.

The pressure is off when you're down three or four runs. It's a lot easier to hit when nothing is riding on it.

We battled offensively for 14 innings today and the kids seemed like they were having a lot of fun out there.

Lang was big. That first hit sparked our offense. We ran him in there and gave him a shot, and he delivered. He's one of our top-five practice players, and he took advantage of his opportunity today.

Clay kept the ball down and changed the tempo. The pick-off play was huge.
