Without the Guru, spiritual wisdom is not obtained; other tastes are poison. Without virtue, nothing is of any use. The taste of Maya is bland and insipid.

Without the Guru, no one is shown the Way. Like the blind, they continue coming and going. Having lost the treasure of spiritual wisdom, they depart, defrauded and plundered.
contentment food gossip obtain perfect provisions tolerance
Faith, contentment and tolerance are the food and provisions of the angels. They obtain the Perfect Vision of the Lord, while those who gossip find no place of rest.
ask bestow forever greatness night praise says true
Forever and ever, night and day, I praise the Greatness of Your Goodness. You bestow Your Gifts, even if we do not ask for them. Says Nanak, contemplate the True Lord.
corrupt dear embrace enjoy forgetting pillars shall
Forgetting your Dear Lord, you enjoy corrupt pleasures, and so you shall have to embrace red-hot pillars
awesome blessed forever fruitful great infinite vision
Forever fruitful is the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; He is Infinite and Incomparable. He is Awesome and All-powerful; He is forever the Great Giver.
chanting holes nine pour purified
The nine holes pour out filth. Chanting the Lord's Name, they are all purified and sanctified.
awake guru remains sleeps true
Day and night, true guru remains awake and aware; he never sleeps or dreams.
cares giver great watches
Day after day, He cares for His beings; the Great Giver watches over all.
business guest idle involve remember
Do not involve yourself in idle business on the way; remember that you are only a guest here.
days nights wasted
The nights are wasted sleeping, and the days are wasted eating.
chant gone insipid name taste
You taste the weak, insipid wine, and you have gone insane,so chant his name

Eat some, and save the rest, if you are destined to return to the world again
