You feel especially good inside when the kids go out there and do a job for you. This team is probably going to have a different face on it by the time we see it next year opening day.
We've had trouble all year with a runner on third and less than two outs. Baerga knows how to hit. He just didn't get it done tonight.
We will have experienced guys sitting on the bench this year that have been successful in that role they play. They understand it and accept it and produce in that role. So it should be better.
It seems like every staff has a guy that a team scores runs for, and then there's this hard-luck guy that they don't score runs for. This may be his year to get the run support.
They were on a mission to win three ballgames. It's probably the first times this year we thought about sweeping a series before we played the first game, and we got it done.
Zimmerman is not the savior here. Is it fair to the other people that have been here all year long to get us where we were then all of the sudden you put them down and put the kid out there?
He could go out and pitch the same way this year and have a tremendous year because things go his way. This may be his year to get run support.
He is doing the things that we've asked him to do last year and tried to get him to do and he is doing them now and you have to say, it's two games but it's two games in a row he did those things. If he continues to do that, that's what we want from him and that's what we have to have from him if he is going to make this ball club.
This is a key year for him, I think, for him to go back out there and back last year up with another solid year. There is no reason why he shouldn't be able to, barring some type of serious injury.
When a guy is maybe on the lower end of the pain threshold, we have a tendency to maybe be a little critical of him and say what he should do and what he should be able to do. All I know is an individual knows himself and he knows what he is able to handle as far as pain is concerned.
We have to do whatever it takes right now, ... That's our rallying cry: whatever it takes. We have to put it together now. We can't win one, lose one, win one, lose two.
We had the ballgames. They were our ballgames to win, and we didn't finish them off.
We had the ballgames, ... They were our ballgames to win, and we didn't finish them off.
We chose not to give him an MRI. The physicals should include everything.
