Brooks never impressed me because you were accustomed to him making the plays. This kid reminds me a lot of Brooks on those plays. Brooks owned those things. Brooks was very good on those slow rollers coming in.
You feel especially good inside when the kids go out there and do a job for you. This team is probably going to have a different face on it by the time we see it next year opening day.
I'm happy for him. He seems to be having fun again. Everyone likes him. What's not to like? A kid full of enthusiasm, a big smile on his face, a young guy going out there and playing like he's a kid in a sandbox.
Of course it matters, ... I'm going to put a kid at a position he hasn't played when I have other people, other options? I wouldn't do it to him, number one.
That was a beautiful debut. That kid will be all right.
Zimmerman is not the savior here. Is it fair to the other people that have been here all year long to get us where we were then all of the sudden you put them down and put the kid out there?
You don't want these kids to feel shattered because they don't come through with a base hit or make a play in a tight situation and feel like they've cost us an opportunity to do something.
I expect that [trying to do the best] of my players today and of my kids. My wife says I shouldn't expect that of my children, but I don't think that's asking too much.
The kid pitched very, very well. You couldn't ask for any more. Very impressive, the way he pitched. He deserves another shot.
When a guy is maybe on the lower end of the pain threshold, we have a tendency to maybe be a little critical of him and say what he should do and what he should be able to do. All I know is an individual knows himself and he knows what he is able to handle as far as pain is concerned.
We have to do whatever it takes right now, ... That's our rallying cry: whatever it takes. We have to put it together now. We can't win one, lose one, win one, lose two.
We had the ballgames. They were our ballgames to win, and we didn't finish them off.
We had the ballgames, ... They were our ballgames to win, and we didn't finish them off.
We chose not to give him an MRI. The physicals should include everything.
