I think John gained that experience and understanding that he can do it now at this level. He is what I call 'established' now on this staff. He doesn't have to come here and win a job. All he has to do is get ready for the season.
This is another step, and a very important step, in ownership being named. It was just a matter of when this thing was going to get done. That's the key right there. ... You want to get ownership named, so you can get the new ballpark, so you can feel what I call 'whole' as a team and as a franchise.
He was decent in a couple of spots. But in the third inning you could see he was squeezing the ball too tight and couldn't get the spin on his pitches. I wouldn't call it a bad outing, but a short one.

I'm very proud of Brian the way he has progressed over the years, especially since he's been the everyday catcher. We chose not to give him an MRI. The physicals should include everything.
