We cannot have a government which is going to manipulate intelligence information. We've got to get to the bottom of it, ... Meet the Press.
The real transgression occurs when religion wants government to tell citizens how to live uniquely personal parts of their lives. The failure of Prohibition proves the futility of such an attempt when a majority or even a substantial minority happens to disagree. Some questions may be inherently individual ones, or people may be sharply divided about whether they are. In such cases, like Prohibition and abortion, the proper role of religion is to appeal to the conscience of the individual, not the coercive power of the state.
I believe that religious witness should not mobilize public authority to impose a view where a decision is inherently private in nature or where people are deeply divided about whether it is... We indicated to each and all of them that we stand with them; we want to learn more from them, ... Today isn't just one meeting but is going to be a continuum, until we are able to see justice and those who were a part of this cruel and murderous act are brought to justice.
Even today, the administration submitted a report to Congress on troop training that again failed to set out a plan,
The president's economic report is an insult to every hard-working American. It's unpatriotic economics, and he should apologize for it.
