It seems like at Purdue and then the Chargers and then to here -- it's kind of a situation where maybe they had a couple of rough seasons. The community was just craving that winner. And maybe there was a change, like a new coach, a new attitude and you're just able to step in and become a winner. That's what we did at Purdue and at San Diego, and now we plan on doing that here.
You never expect a rookie to be able to step in and do the job they did. Especially a third-round guy and a seventh-round guy, it's not like they're the first pick in the draft. They just stepped in with an attitude.
This entire program, from stock market investing to business ethics, has been awesome. I think it's important to step away from football and explore other interests, whatever they may be. For me, I have a strong interest in business, and this has truly exceeded my expectations.

Everybody was yelling 'we love you Flutie,' and 'you should be the starter.' They're yelling everything, ... They love the guy there. They were yelling stuff at him about when he was the starter back in the '80s, saying 'they never should have let you go.'
At the start of the season, our goal was to win a championship. We were expecting to be in the playoffs, so that wasn't even a goal.
Doug has been great to us, ... He'll come up on the sideline, even if we don't ask him a question, and say, 'Did you see what I did? The reason I did that was because I saw this or that, or they were blitzing a linebacker.' He lays it out for you where you wouldn't know otherwise. It's great, because Doug's my kind of player. He can do a lot of things that other guys can't.
We feel like we have to win because of the situation we're in. I still feel like we're in a position where we control our own destiny. If we win each of these next three games, we're in.
