It's interesting that three teams have (off weeks) to prepare for us now, but byes can be funny things. I've been in situations where we came off one and played terrible. I've also been in others where we came off one and just kept rolling. We have great momentum now. We just want to keep it going.
Doug has been great to us, ... He'll come up on the sideline, even if we don't ask him a question, and say, 'Did you see what I did? The reason I did that was because I saw this or that, or they were blitzing a linebacker.' He lays it out for you where you wouldn't know otherwise. It's great, because Doug's my kind of player. He can do a lot of things that other guys can't.
Definitely by training camp I'll be out there getting ready to have a great season. No concern whatsoever.
Definitely a game we should have won. To have the momentum we did, to be down on the yard-and-a-half line when we were up 14-10, we felt we had a great chance to put them away.
You still see the city is very alive and you've got a lot of great citizens of New Orleans committed to rebuilding this city that are just so excited about Saints football. In times of tragedy, in times like this, people look to whatever they can to try to lift their spirits and I think for a lot of people that is Saints football. ... What a great opportunity it was for me to be here as quarterback, but not only that, but as a person in this community.
Obviously there are great coaches on both teams, but I just felt that energy in New Orleans. From the very beginning there was a genuine feeling that they wanted me there. They believe I can come back from this shoulder injury and lead them to a championship. They were as confident as I am, and that meant a lot.
It helps a great deal. Obviously, he's a big part of our offense and our team and it's another weapon. Not only is he very productive, but he also creates for others.
Champ Bailey just sat on the route and made a great play, ... You don't want to start a half like that, but we still had a lot of football after that.
He's loosened up a little bit. When he came here, he was a great coach, one of the best in the game. Now he's even better. We've learned from him. He's learned from us.
I expect to have a great season and I expect us to have a great season, ... How else would you expect us to look at it?
I'm sure there's a sigh of relief from the Dolphins, because if there was a team that could (go unbeaten), I'm sure it was these Colts. They're a heck of a football team, and they have a lot to be proud of. Hopefully we'll see them again down the road, sooner than later.
I knew they were gonna bring somebody in, whether it be a draft pick or a free agent. But in my mind I was the only guy here, ... Every day I competed against myself. I didn't compete against the guy next to me.
I'm relieved that it's over. But I guess it's a bittersweet kind of deal. Doug and I both wanted it. ... I'm excited, but I know how much work we have ahead of us. I know how much improvement I have to make for us to be where we want to be.
That first touchdown run he had, where he runs outside, there's two guys there, and he just stops, and both those guys just keep going and he cuts it right up in there untouched in the end zone. For any other player, they're getting tackled by two guys at the 2-yard line, and nobody touches him and he walks into the end zone. He's a spectacular player.
