During his 19 seasons in the major leagues, Baylor was a power hitter known for crowding the plate, and was a first baseman, left fielder, and designated hitter. It's only right. I'm not there. They didn't want to move right away, but after a few days, it made sense.
It was encouraging. He wasn't trying to pull the ball the way he did when he was here before and there really wasn't that uncontrolled swing that he had. He was pretty much under control.
This kid is going to hit up here. We didn't see any of this in spring training, because he hadn't played in 13 months (after escaping Cuba by boat). Nobody saw this from him then. I think it's easy to forget how many months he missed. It's got to have been difficult for him. He's just now catching up.
