against agency blended defense draft field football free kids maturity players practice run sitting talented watching
There's nothing like having talent. I've been on the field a long time, and we've never had better football players sitting in this room, collectively. We have some talented players on defense who can run and make plays. Our draft and free agency were good, and then the maturity of the kids that were already here blended together. I could just see from watching practice against our offense, it was going to be a much better defense.
against gets good intense players practice realize study until
You don't realize how intense it gets until you study the practice tapes, ... There were some unbelievable collisions with good players against good players.
against competition far man pass practice worked
He will probably practice on Wednesday, ... There's still a little soreness in the knee. He worked out hard. But we didn't put him in the real competition as far as pass coverage, against man coverage.
again ball great turn
We had a week's bye. Again ? you turn the ball over, you're going to lose. Especially when you've got two great teams.
against attain bit certainly clear coach compete credit exactly feeling field football guarantee might mind profession team walk watching
When I walk off that field Sunday, I might feel like I can coach another 100 years. They just won't guarantee me that feeling every Sunday. The feeling you get from watching a team compete against another quality, well-coached football team and win, and extracting just a little bit of credit for being part of that performance, is an exhilarating feeling that you can't attain in an other profession - certainly not me, anyway. There'll be a right time, and it'll be clear in my mind exactly what it is.
against catch confident drive ended liked missed opening playing practicing snaps sure work
Trent only ended up playing 56 snaps this (preseason). We would have liked to have him play 75 to 85 snaps with the work he missed only practicing once a day, ... I'm confident we can catch up, but I'm not sure how long it takes. We haven't been as efficient, other than the opening drive against Seattle.
abandon against approach balanced best came football jets mean means remain run running team
For the most part, we try to remain a balanced football team. The Jets came in here with one of the best defenses against the run. That doesn't mean we will run successfully Sunday. It means we don't abandon a running approach just because of the team we play.
against anticipate balance bit kept packages practice shutting slow watching
I could just see, from watching practice against our offense, it was going to be a much better defense, ... Did I anticipate shutting out the Jets? No. But I thought we could slow them down a bit because we can all run. They can all run. I think the blitzing packages kept them off balance a little bit.
against practice watching
I could see, from watching practice against our offense, it was going to be a much better defense.
bailey beat champ hard last none players three year
I know this -- none of our players said Champ Bailey didn't play hard when we beat them by three touchdowns last year out here.
few sure
It's something he's had before. I'm sure he'll be out a few days.
early games lost pay start stuff takes win winning
It's so early in the season. They're going to win some games like they lost tonight, and once they start winning those, they'll probably win some more. All the stuff they've done will pay off for them; sometimes it just takes a little time.
build cut cutting everybody few good job line offense offensive problem reaching running scheme shove underneath zone
The big problem with them is their offensive line and their zone scheme. They do an awfully good job with it. Everybody has a few zone scheme running plays. We do. But they build their offense on that. They get you stretched, reaching out, and then they shove you out and cut right back underneath you. They do a good job of cutting the linebackers off.
bolt credit guys hit lightning line side wearing
They hit him too many times, ... and that's a credit to those guys over on the other side of the line of scrimmage wearing that lightning bolt on their helmet. We just have to get better.
