(Meyer) might have gone out a little slow on that first mile, but in these weather conditions I think it's better sometimes to be smart than to question yourself at the end. She came on and was only 9 seconds out of second place. She made a great move at about the 3,000-meter mark, when she was in fourth or fifth.

We had a bunch of young, inexperienced runners that really embraced the tradition of excellence in Fremont High cross country. With the first meet behind us, we have a clearer sense of what we need to do to reach our team goals for the season.

Paige is a testament to just what hard work and dedication can do. She missed only two days of summer training and on those days she still ran while out of town. Her time is the fastest she has ever run on any course. ... I am extremely proud of her efforts today.

I know my girls always look forward to running in front of the supportive hometown fans. We've got Columbus (No. 3 in the state) coming to town and we look forward to the challenge.
