added bunch casey continues depth giving good hitting job lull pitching smith time
Our pitching continues to get better after hitting a lull where we were giving up a bunch of runs. Casey Smith does a good job every time out, and we've added some depth to our bullpen.
defense error four games hitting knew last pitchers playing supposed talent throwing
We're playing the way we're supposed to play and aren't doing anything crazy. Our pitchers are throwing strikes, our defense has only one error in the last four games and we're hitting the baseball, and I knew we had the talent to do it.
bit focus heading hits hitting key matt needed offensive timely tournament
We got the timely hitting we needed today. Brice and Matt (Combs) got some key hits for us, but we are still going to focus on our offensive a bit more heading into tournament time.
adam again ball deep gave guys hitting nice playing quality strikes throwing
Adam pitched well and gave us another quality start. It's nice to know we've got guys like him who are able to go deep into games. We did the little things again today, such as hitting the ball on two-strike counts, throwing strikes and playing defense.
casey gave strikes though throws
Casey (Smith) was solid, even though he gave up some runs. He comes in and throws strikes every time.
effort field less proud tough
Lufkin is a tough place to play, much less sweep. I'm very proud of the effort we put out on the field today.
came conference glad ready supposed tyler
I was glad we were able to get Tyler his first conference action. I know it wasn't under a lot of pressure, but he came in and did what he was supposed to do. We had Cory (Farrell) ready to go in the bullpen.
arguing ball bat bring catcher caught decision extra fact gone guy high innings mike pinch run tag thinking tough work
I was arguing the fact that the catcher had to go so high to get the ball and bring it down to tag our guy on the head. It was unfortunate the way things ended, but we shouldn't be caught in those situations. I probably should have pinch run for Mike in that situation, but I was thinking how tough it would have been had we gone extra innings without his bat in the lineup. It was a decision that didn't work out for us.
days due excited good guys hand hitters job needed prospects road six stand wind
These were two pretty big wins, because we go on the road for six and needed to do so with some confidence. I thought the guys responded well today, and we did a good job on the mound. It was one of those days where the hitters have the upper hand due to the way the wind was blowing, but we're all excited about the prospects of where we stand now.
almost arms average batting continue definitely excited faced facing far good kids looking offensive performance pleased points thus trash
I'm definitely pleased with the performance the kids have put out thus far and am excited to clinch so early. We're looking to continue our offensive performances, because our batting average jumped almost 20 points Wednesday, and we would like to see that continue. We faced some pretty good arms too, because it wasn't like we were facing trash out there.
executing formula guys happen special strives team
It's not a mystery, and there's no special formula to what we're doing. It's what every team strives to do, but our guys happen to be executing it well right now.
anytime string
Anytime you can take two on the road, it helps. It's big for us, and we need to string them (wins) together.
alex game job keeping outing pitcher shot super
It was a disappointing outing for Zach. He still has a shot at all-conference and pitcher of the year. Alex did a super job of keeping us in the game when we were tied.
allowed four great last runs
They did a great job, and they have allowed only four runs in the last two weeks.
