We had plenty of time to just work our offense. It was a bit unnerving with them coming back and tying the game, but we were in a rhythm from three.

We just talked about going out there and playing. It will be nice to get revenge for the girls, but I think we just have to go out there and play hard for ourselves.
best matter state
Most of all, we have been working to get back to the state finals; it didn't matter who we would play there. But being able to play (Forest Park) now is the best thing that could have happened. We wanted to play them again.

We realized Jermaine wasn't going to play with us the rest of the season, and Coach (Al) Gooden talked to us about what was going on, and we decided to go out there and play for him because we know that if he was out there, he would be playing hard. I have a chance to talk to him when I can, which is mostly everyday. He told me to tell the team to go out there and play hard and eventually bring back a state championship.

We got a little more patient on offense. As we got more patient, we were able to hit more shots. We didn't try to rush our shots.
adversity both overcome
Both (state trips) are good, but I think I like this one better because we showed we can overcome some adversity and get back.
affected early game sit tough waiting
It was kind of tough kind of coasting through the early game, then having to sit around all day waiting to play Cass in the finals. I think that kind of affected our game a little.

Not a lot of people get the chance to go to state, so I think it is real big right now because we are dealing with a lot of people who haven't been down there.

It's disappointing. We worked hard to get here, but we couldn't pull it off.

Yeah, he's got a lot of mental toughness, and I think we take after him.

A lot of people might look on us right now as a team relying on the three-pointer, but we are just taking what teams give us. We are feeling confident from the outside, and James is doing a good job finding us for open baskets.
boards everywhere good guys hit inside
They have good inside guys, good guards; everywhere you look they have guys that can play. Plus, they hit the boards hard.
advantage coach dump inside low noticed tried
Coach (Gooden) noticed we had the advantage inside, so we tried to get into low post, dump it inside and get it back.
determination stronger willpower
He will recover, and when he is done recovering, he will be stronger than what he was before. The willpower and determination that he has, he is not done (playing basketball).
