Leg quarter prices have fallen from a record level of 50 cents a pound last fall to 29 cents a pound today and still seem to be falling. We believe at least some of this is due to consumer concern in the export markets regarding avian influenza.

Kellogg recognizes the importance of constantly streamlining costs ... That is how it has avoided, and we think will continue to avoid, the margin deterioration that has plagued the industry.
asia cheaper companies good job looking though time year
Kellogg has done a good job of this historically, though not in this decade. But now is a time when a lot of companies are looking at Asia because of the value. Making acquisitions and investments there is a lot cheaper than it was a year ago.
