David E. Hofmansis an American trainer of Thoroughbred racehorses. Born and raised in Los Angeles, as a boy his father brought him to watch horse racing at area tracks. While a student at Pasadena City College he became friends with Gary Jones. The son of a horse trainer and future trainer himself, Jones spurred Hofmans' interest in horses and he would begin learning the business as a groom and hot walker for Jones' father...

I want to see her finishing the race so that we can move farther later on. I don't think the distance is ideal. We want to run longer.

She went awesome. Her last three-eighths were in 34-and-three. We worked her with another horse, and then another horse inadvertently tied in at the three-eighths pole.

She was wide but it didn't matter. She needed her last race and this was about right for her, coming back. She's the best three-year-old filly I've had. I'm just telling you, I'm very impressed with her.

She's a very mature filly and she's coming into her own now. She's a stronger, smarter, calmer filly than she was last year.

She's one of the toughest, strongest horses I've ever trained. She's very self-willed.

She came around so quickly at the end of the year that she didn't have time to catch up to herself. And now she has. She is a stronger, smarter and calmer filly.

It's a real tough race. You have horses that go to the lead. Some come from behind. So it's going to be an interesting race.

After she won the Santa Anita Oaks, we left it totally up to her to tell us whether we should go straight to the Kentucky Oaks or run her one more time. She came out so strong and so happy that this was the logical move.
