ball catch couple dropped missed needed pressure protect throws
We had pressure on the passer, we missed some throws, we dropped a couple of throws and we really did not throw and catch the ball and protect like we needed to.
against buffer couple dame expect freshman guys handled month ready sign situation sudden team thrown training weeks
Being thrown into that situation is not easy, particularly when you don't expect it. You sign with a team as a freshman and expect to come in and have that buffer year. Then all of a sudden a month or a couple weeks before training camp, we say that one of you guys has to be ready to play against Notre Dame if something happens. I think they've handled it well.
backs backward game good involved last offense played running score spring springs start three throws today
I've been involved in springs where, the last week, you're going backward -- you go out for the spring game and the quarterback throws three interceptions, the running backs fumble and the offense doesn't score a touchdown. Then you start making excuses. But we played well enough today and did enough good things.
accurate fortunate jay needs obvious three throws weeks
It's obvious that Jay needs a lot of work, ... He's behind, and we're fortunate that we have three weeks before we play (a regular-season game) to get that done?.Jay has just got to get enough work. The throws he made were off. He just wasn't very accurate tonight.
mental pads start throwing
We're throwing a lot at them, from a mental standpoint, when we don't have the pads on. This weekend, we'll kind of back up and start over again.
ability athletic ideal move people situations throw trick
He was the ideal guy, because of his athletic ability, to move around and get in some mismatch situations -- flank him out, move him around, trick people and throw him the ball.
against good job line maybe offensive past protecting seen south throw time
I thought for the most part our offensive line did a good job of protecting the passer against South Florida. There was time to throw the ball, maybe more than what we had seen in past weeks. I really think we're making progress.
appreciate guys neat throwback
I think it was just a throwback weekend. We're back to our originals. But it was neat that the guys did appreciate it.
believe biggest bounce honest
I'm Tyler's biggest supporter. He's our guy. I believe in him and he'll bounce back this week, but we've got to be honest about things,
came defense guy last maybe sack week
In defense of the tackles, which I haven't done maybe all this year, last week there was only the one sack where the guy came around the edge,
build commitment head knew responsibility work
I know the responsibility that comes with being a head coach, and knew the work and commitment it would take to build a top-10 program. And that's the goal,
quick screen turn
The big play to turn it around was the quick screen to Greg Lee,
adjustment amount biggest bit defense difference finding happy kids knowledge limited medium might opposed players practice time week
The biggest adjustment is the time-management part, the limited amount of time you have with the kids as opposed to the pros, ... Every week it's a new challenge. It doesn't make any difference how much knowledge I might have about the defense ... it comes down to what our players can practice and comprehend. Finding that happy medium has been a little bit different.
amount freshmen time win
They know we're being fair. We're doing everything we can to win every game, but there's no set amount of time that these freshmen are going to play.
