ace anytime expect gave great lose main star substitute
Anytime you lose your ace it hurts. You take him out there and you expect to win. Hensley gave us a great effort, but there's no substitute for your star pitcher. The main thing is we have to get him healthy.
baseball expect game giants knew scoreboard staff takes watch win won
This was a very big game for us. We don't want to scoreboard watch too much, but we knew the Giants had won (in Washington). Jake is our staff ace, and he is our stopper. When he takes the mound, we expect to win baseball games.
baseball expected far fare ourselves playing win worried
We expected to win this division, we said it from day one, and we want to go far in the playoffs. We're worried about ourselves playing better baseball because if we don't, we're not going to fare too well in the post-season.
below clubhouse expects forget guys nobody people record whatever
Even if it's below .500, and we get to the postseason, if we go out there and do something special, then I think people will forget about it, ... We've got nothing to lose. Whatever our record is, nobody expects much of us. As long as 25 guys in the clubhouse do, that's all that matters.
difference division expect good people satisfied team winning
A real difference is, there were no expectations before, and now there are. People aren't just satisfied with their team winning a division championship. They expect the Padres and Chargers to do more. Personally, I think that's a good thing.
blood expected guys smell
When those guys have the lead, they smell blood. No one expected anything from us.
expecting lose three
You come in here and everyone's expecting us to lose three straight,
best team
We believe, ... we're the best team in baseball.
clearly identify lead problems stated sudden theme
There are clearly stated problems that we have to identify and have to uncover. The overlying theme is things that would lead to sudden incapacitation,
chip coming consistency guys hear looking prove shoulder terrible
We're looking for more consistency out of our team. I think that a lot of guys are still coming in with a little chip on their shoulder because you hear that it was a fluke, it was a terrible division. We're out to prove that we can do it again.
guys opportunity team veteran
We've got a veteran ballclub, and guys who are still very hungry. There's a lot of guys on this team who haven't won. This is an opportunity for us, and we don't want to let it go. There's been no panic, and guys are still banding together.
both good hard hopefully time
Yeah, I think it could have been worse, without a doubt. After the MRIs, hopefully we're going to get good news. It's going to be hard to keep both of us out of the lineup. This time of year, it's hard to keep us out.
agent care far meet needs pilot report seeing taking
When I'm seeing a pilot, I'm taking care of the pilot -- but I'm doing it for the FAA, ... I'm an agent of the FAA, and that's who I report to, so it's far more important that I meet their needs than the patient's needs.
bullpen obviously strongest
Our bullpen obviously is the strongest part of our team. I like our chances, I really do. If we can get to the bullpen ...
