We felt the best competition was going to be in the 600 because the girl from Marshfield ran a 1:33 last week and we wanted the best race we could get for her.

Emily has looked very good for us early in the season.

Sam took it out first as she normally does. The other girl caught her with about 50 meters to go and passed her. She (Thomas) maintained that margin until the end.

Samantha's versatility is second to none. We're very lucky to have her on our team.
chance knew last meet run state week win
That was at the State Meet and we just told her to do what she had to do to win the race. She had run a 1:34 during her 1,000 last week so we knew she could go under that. This was just a chance to actually do it.

She worked really hard indoors, but the rules in indoor only allow three entries per event. It never gave her a chance to do anything. But with unlimited entries outdoor, she got her chance.

This was just an average meet. There was nothing sensational. Hopefully, it'll be a wake-up call and our girls will get the picture. If we plan to win a fifth straight state title, these times will have to come down.
faster great harder outside run track weather winter
It's been a great winter so far. We've been outside on the track doing most of our training. Obviously, you can run a lot faster and harder in 50-degree weather than 20-degree weather.

It was the leadoff leg so she didn't get a running start, so it's pretty accurate.

We did better than we thought. It's early in the season, so everyone's happy with the results. These were good times for this time of year.

You're only allowed to do two events each, so we targeted this race and the 4x400. We felt we could run a time similar to two years ago and it just worked out that they ran very well.

Some of the kids that don't usually get a chance to shine got an opportunity today.
best good ran time
It's not our best time of the year, but it's pretty close. We ran a 4:02.85 at Yale. That was a more competitive race, but this is a pretty good time.
