best knows water
He knows the water best who has waded through it
fool help himself
He who would make a fool of himself will find many to help him
far leap run
He who would leap far must first take a long run
beg home knows leave purse
He who knows how to beg may leave his purse at home
ashamed asking learning
He who is ashamed of asking is ashamed of learning
afraid ashamed asking
He who is afraid of asking is ashamed of learning.
gives teaches
He who gives to me teaches me to give.
egg feeds hen ought
He who feeds the hen ought to have the egg
elephant enemy regard size though
Though your enemy is the size of an ant, regard him as an elephant
barks dog honest man worse
An honest man is not the worse because a dog barks at him
poverty riches
If you can keep yourself with poverty you have no need of riches
hart house room
If there is room in your hart there is room in your house
farther row sail
Don't sail out farther than you can row back
man none small stretch tall
No man is so tall that he never need stretch and none to small that he never need stoop.
