That's not the way I wanted to finish my season. I was on my radio all day about him. He was all over the track even when he was running by himself. No wonder he jumps around from team to team. Needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated.
It's all about creating momentum and then keeping that going by being focused. You do what you can and let the commercials keep running so people don't forget about you during the down times.
I've been fortunate Daytona is a place I've run better than anywhere else, and that's a big race. Maybe it has to do with attention and pressure and the drive to do well when a lot of people are watching.
We ran well there in the November 2012, my first race with (Tony) Gibson (as crew chief). Unfortunately, we haven't left there without a torn up race car. We got caught up in accidents in November of 2012 and then again in November 2013. We cut a tire and crashed last spring, so it'd be nice to have a good clean run with the GoDaddy car. I like Phoenix and Gibson has won there a few times. Hopefully our luck will turn around and we can have a good smooth run and get back on track.
I didn't want to fall back. But I realized it was more important to make it to the end under my own power than to run flat out in the lead or in second and then run out of fuel with a lap to go.
I just want to see everybody before I left for the year, say bye.
I'm really happy for Buddy. I know this has been a tough season for him. He really deserves this.
It's something different that people haven't seen. It's a story that people are interested in, and the league will do what they think is best for the series.
I never let it get in the way of racing. I was definitely always to my car on time.
We weren't super strong this weekend, but we kept getting better and faster.
We weren't perfect on the gears, but we just used the information that we had and the car was strong. We never know with the wind conditions and the cooler track if you make the right changes. But it was good and we'll get ready for the race.
There is so much history here, just like the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500. It's one of those races that everybody knows about and I couldn't pass up the chance to get the experience.
To win. I'm not going to fault anyone for asking the question because I'm asking it, too.
So you're telling me that Jaques is saying he got beat up by a girl?
