We showed so much character this tournament, and it'll help even more later in the season. Rallying back Friday night (for a 49-48 victory over Booker T. Washington) and then coming back like this tonight will help us in the district.

We just want to expose the kids to what took place in the past, show them how fortunate they are to have the opportunities to participate in sports, so they can have a better perspective of the challenges those athletes faced in those times.

We were overall the better team. But we didn't put them away when we had the opportunity to. It turned out to be a game of survival when they closed the gap on a 15-point lead down to three.

These days shooting has become a lost art. Kids are looking to make the spectacular pass, the handles and the dunk. Statistically throughout the college and pro games, the percentages are down.

We had players step up, and that's what it's all about. At this point, players have to step up and do what they have to do to help the team advance.

To finish this stretch 25-0 is remarkable. They showed a lot of character out there, and we'll build on this.

If they lose the game, they run a lot of sprints. Most of the time they come back and win. It's an intensity thing for our first group.

We've got to defend better. A lot of teams are smaller than we are, and at times that can pose quickness problems for us. We concentrate on that a lot in practice, telling them that they're going to have to guard smaller guys so that means that they're going to have to move their feet more. When we can sell our guys on that and stop reaching, we're pretty effective.

Obviously those guys are going to be tough to replace. But we lost three talented guards last year and had guys step up this year. We'll still be tenacious defensively, and I'm sure we'll have guys step up again next season.

We're in the third phase of our season now. We don't want to feel like we felt last year when we went home on an early exit.

They have been tremendous this year for us. Their confidence level is extremely high, and as they continue, it will force teams to play the tempo that we want to play.
