Was it worth the wait, or what? ... It's pretty sweet right now.
Was it worth the wait or what? Forty-four years is a long time everybody, but I tell you what -- it's all worth it. It's bittersweet right now. It feels great. We love you guys very much. It's an unbelievable feeling right now for everybody in that clubhouse and you guys should enjoy it just as much as we are.
Today we just took our lumps. We came across a good pitcher, and he pitched well and hit his spots.
(Wednesday) was definitely a roller-coaster day. It was a close game, and then they tied it up with Bobby's big home run. Then they come back and scored and put us down. Willy not giving up and running all the way through the base gave us a chance. That was a nice game right there.
They got some guys on and we had one bad play. But, once again, they've got a good team over there, and for us to come out here and take two out of three, we'll take it.
About 99.9 percent of the time he comes in, and it's game over. He's nasty, he's got good stuff. He's still got it. You tip your hat to any guy that can square up and catch up to it.
That time he threw me one or two changes and I fouled one off and then the other one he got it up a little bit and I was able to get it far enough out. That gave us a (three-run lead), and with the way Andy was pitching that's all we needed.
You're talking 25- and 30-home run guys and they're not in your lineup anymore, so you have to do some things differently, ... That's hit-and-running, laying down some bunts. We can't be swinging for the fences. We've got some power, but we don't have as much as we did last year. We just have to be a little more creative.
You're never going to forget certain things that happen to you in this game. And a three-run home run off the Rocket in his first playoff game -- I guarantee you he'll never forget that . It was good for him, just bad for us.
You're confident (when he's on the mound. He's one of the top five starters in the game. You don't expect to lose that game.
You don't slap a New Jersey girl and get away with it.
There was a soft side to him that a lot of people didn't get to know. He didn't let a lot of people in there. If you were in there, he was just like a dad. He'd give you anything. He was a giver, not a taker. That's the ultimate compliment.
This is the most rewarding season I've ever had.
Some days, it's a real challenge to get the offense going. Our game relies on pitching, defense and timely hitting.
