catching depth hard liked looking receiving work
We don't know him as well as the Padres do yet, but we've always liked him from the other side, catching and receiving the ball. Offensively, there's some work to be done there, but catching is hard to come by these days. Everybody's looking for it right now. We like the depth we have.
fall winter
We'll see how the winter goes, but he could fall into that,
advantage
We didn't take advantage of opportunities because we really didn't have any.
confidence good guys helps starting
We are new at this. We are starting to like it. We need to keep it going. Each one is a confidence builder. Each one helps the guys feel they belong. Guys each get a chance, and when they perform, they feel good about themselves.
bitter bridge brought five forward gap group guys hung large moving players rather six steps taken taste took woods
We are moving forward with a large group of players rather than having five or six guys we brought in to bridge a gap for a year. We had our first taste of the process. The first two months, it was a very bitter taste. We took a lot of ridicule. But we hung together. We are not out of the woods yet, but we've taken steps forward.
run
They scored one more run than us. There's really nothing else to say.
run
They scored one more run than us. There's not much more you can say.
reasons
They know Fuentes is closing. They have their reasons for what they do.
built pitch work
They got their work in and built up their pitch count, which is all we wanted.
beat believe forward opportunity
They have a lot to prove. I look forward to the opportunity to go play games. They believe they can beat anybody.
bull drew tough
They drew a tough bull today, as they say in the rodeo.
belt bottom build degree experience line talk walk won
They do walk around a little lighter. They have experience under their belt and a degree of confidence. But they have to build on the success. You can talk about a lot of things, but the bottom line is we won 67 games, and that is not very many.
judgment tough
They're in a tough position. After the warning, they have to make judgment calls.
certain missed parts playing
There is 'The Book' that has certain things you do and don't do (as a manager). I missed parts of it. We're going to take chances. We're playing to win.
