continue exhausted george left lives novel perhaps sort violent
Think about George Orwell's three-minute hate from the novel '1984' and how that left everyone sort of exhausted and able to live their boring humdrum lives. If our lives are going to continue being unfulfilled and boring, perhaps we do need some sort of short-term violent chaos incorporated into them, to make them more palatable.
bit church falling life trying
Your life isn't about doing one perfect 'thing' and then falling down dead. It's more like going to church or writing a book. You do it over and over, always trying to be a little bit better. Then you die.
rant
So much of 'Fight Club' was a rant against fathers.
people since time
Since September 11, 2001, the real world has become too scary for a lot of people to be with - all the time.
My writing process isn't a very organized thing.
books carry favorite travel
My favorite books to give or get are short story collections. And always paperbacks because they are easy to carry as you travel.
Your advice, your praise, was so very, very f****d.
chick life
There will always be cougars outside. It's such a chick thing to think that life should just go on forever.
drama full goes grinding happens joy nice pain polish rock rocks rolls round sand sickness twenty ugly victory war water
Think of a rock polisher, one of those drums, goes round and round, rolls twenty four/seven, full of water and rocks and gravel. Grinding it all up. Round and round. Polishing those ugly rocks into gemstones. That's the earth. Why it goes around. We're the rocks. And what happens to us- the drama and pain and joy and war and sickness and victory and abuse- why, that's just the water and sand to erode us. Grind us down. To polish us up, nice and bright.
almost invested looks love loving moment sex somebody using
I thought we were a real love relationship. I did. I was very invested in love, but it was just this long long sex thing that could end at any moment because after all, it's just about getting off. Almost all the time, you tell yourself you're loving somebody when you're just using them. This only looks like love.
committing feels gift hiding ignore knack natural talent terrible
Ignore how it feels when the only real talent you have is for hiding the truth. You have a God-given knack for committing a terrible sin. You have a natural gift for denial. A blessing.
bad
Being lonely is not a bad thing for a writer.
believe people
If you don't believe what other people believe, then they'll accuse you of being nihilistic.
attention drunk paying
If you're not drunk and half-naked by now then you haven't been paying attention
