We really had a diverse group of kids. They had different kinds of disabilities. These children are too young to participate in Special Olympics, so this offers them an outlet to participate in a game that they may not otherwise get to play. It is a really special time for not just the participants, but for the families and the volunteers too.

He had just served as the best man in a recent wedding. He was an adult volunteer who helped out at youth activities, which is a common practice in every church. Like many other people in our church, I was completely caught off guard and shocked by this. It seemed completely out of character for him.

It's really special, not just for the players but for their parents too. I think the best part is watching the parents' faces. You could see the tears in the dad's eyes while they put their jersey on their child. A lot of dad's never thought they would have the opportunity to something like this. You just can't describe that feeling you get seeing that.
