Christopher John "Chris" Carpenteris an American retired professional baseball starting pitcher. He played 15 seasons in Major League Baseballfor the Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals from 1997 to 2012. A Cy Young Award winner and two-time World Series champion, he was also a three-time All-Star selection. beat felt happens matter pitch proper run
If I made the proper pitch to the pitcher, we'd be 0-0 right now. I felt we were going to get some runs, and no matter what happens I didn't think one run was going to beat me. Unfortunately it did.
ball command couple definitely felt last
I definitely felt better than I felt the last couple of starts, mechanically, ... I felt like I was getting through the ball a lot better. My sinker was better, my cutter was better and my command was better.
attract city group lived moving people problem
I don't think there will be a problem with people moving back, but I think it will attract a different group of people. I lived there for 12 years. I know how the city works.
edge everybody games line lose mean talking tiny
Granted, as a competitor, the games mean a lot to you. But we clinched, and there was nothing on the line anymore, everybody was talking about who we're going to play and what day we're going to play and where, all that stuff. You lose a tiny little edge and you get beat.

I can't believe I won. Two years ago, I didn't know if I was ever going to pitch again.

I can't believe I won, ... My son did a little dance for me and my wife gave me a big hug. We were really excited about it.
ball control elevate game ground hit strike tough zone
I can control the game down in the strike zone with them and keep the ball down. It's tough to elevate when you hit a lot of ground balls.

It's huge. We need Jimmy in the lineup every day to come out there and compete every day and be a big part of that offense, never mind his defensive play. It was nice to see him back in there and doing what he did today. Hopefully we can get him on track and he can start feeling better.
best consistency opportunity team win
The consistency I've had, I think, is the most important thing. When I'm pitching, I feel our team is going to have an opportunity to win the game. I like that the best of everything I've accomplished this year.

All that stuff - the awards, the stats, all that stuff - goes back in the box when you get down here. It's not about last season anymore. It's about what's in front of us.

You can't take the results from your last start into your next one. You have to prepare differently and prepare yourself to go out and execute pitches.
