build happened home next positive proud year
I've said it before: For me, personally, and the team, there were enough positive things that happened this year to build on for next year. We should all go home and feel proud about what we did.
corner couple establish inches inside missing nail trying
It was tough. I was trying to establish that inside part of the plate. If I can get in there for strikes, I'm usually pretty successful. I don't know if they were missing by a couple inches or what, but I just couldn't nail that inside corner like I usually do.
easier good helps location starts throwing
I've been throwing pretty good for location. I've been throwing more between starts and that helps out with location and making it easier to pitch.
ben early lost picked pitching slack staff time together year
Early in the year we lost Ben for a while (to an inner-ear ailment) and as a pitching staff we picked up the slack pretty well, ... So this time we just got together and said, 'Hey, we've got to do the same thing here.'
against ahead early fastball later throwing trying
Early in the game, I established trying to get ahead (in the count) throwing my fastball down and away. When you show that to them, it makes them more aggressive. Then, you can use it against them later in the game.

maybe sloppy
That was a sloppy inning. Take it away, and maybe we win.
That was the only thing I did well.
biggest doubt happy moment
That was no doubt the biggest moment of the game. I was so happy to see him get out of that.
ball keeping trouble
I was having a little trouble keeping the ball down to Andruw Jones.
carried clean felt game good last offense played
It felt good to have a low-scoring game, a clean game played with good defense. Our offense carried over from last night.
believe
That was huge. We have to believe in each other, and to do that, things like that have to happen.
ahead biggest count early hitters strikes throwing
Getting ahead of hitters and throwing a lot more strikes early in the count has been the biggest difference.
animosity class finish gave opportunity school toward
I always want to do well, ... I don't have any animosity toward the Diamondbacks. They were always a class organization. They let me finish school before I started pitching. They gave me every opportunity to succeed.
