You have to have the desire to succeed and you can do that without cheating. Well, some people can.
But the bigger picture is, you can't do that late in the season and the playoffs and expect to win. Andruw's not going to come through every time. Contrary to what some people think, he's not Superman.
It's going to prevent people from playing the number of games they want to play because they relied on it for so long.
It's been an electric atmosphere. You would never expect to see the crowds that large, especially with the (hot) weather. I think this ballclub has piqued the interest of Atlanta. People want to come out and see what all the hubbub is about.
It's playoff time, and I think if it were 150 games into the regular season, you'd see some people dragging. But this crowd is electric when they get inside this place, and if you can't get up to play this game, then something's wrong with you.
We have all been through it and we know what he expects. I am excited. Every year people pick against us and we just ignore it. We just go out and do what we have to do and end up getting it done.
Maybe some people in here thought we were going to glide into the playoffs, but it ain't going to happen. There are too many good teams in the league. We let an opportunity slide in this homestand.
I'm surprised he threw the ball between the two dugouts. He was jacked up!
Everybody is looking forward to it. I think it will have a playoff-type atmosphere, maybe just a hair more laid back. We want to represent and represent well.
It was kinda cool - a career highlight. I don't care if it is an exhibition game. To be able to run around the bases with USA across my chest and have ( Ken Griffey ) Junior and Brian Schneider waiting at home plate to slap high-fives. That was special.
Once again, everybody is picking someone else in our division. So we'll just kind of lay back in the weeds and take care of business.
I'm going to hear it from Oscar when we get back to camp.
I'm going to get it from him when I get back to camp.
I like beating everybody, not just the Mets, ... It just so happens that we play them late in the season a lot every year and we've had some meaningful games.
