I'm a little more confident and comfortable this year. This time of year I'm trying to make every play.

I think everybody knows, at least everybody who is on the bubble, so to speak. All you can do is do everything you possibly can every time you get a chance to make it a hard decision for them. When you get the opportunity, you just want to give them reasons to keep you around.

I think we have to keep the proper perspective on high school sports. Sometimes, sports can seem like a runaway train, so we have to remind our student-athletes that education comes first, and that you have to be a good sport to play and a good citizen.
easy extra people player pull wants
Just how to work, ... He's out there working every day. He never wants to come out of the game. You've got to pull him out of the game. If he's tired, he doesn't want to ever come out. It's little things that people don't notice, but that's why he's the player he is -- because he doesn't take the easy way, he always does the extra mile.

Rod doesn't take anything for granted. He's out there playing like every play is his last play.

He worked hard every day. He didn't take any days off, he didn't take any plays off. That's how he did it. He never took the easy way out.

I didn't see any signs of anything being wrong. He was as gracious as ever in his closing comments to the crowd, and his speech was fine.
great guys model stay struggled
He's an inspiration to everyone out here, especially guys like me who've struggled to stay in the league. He's a great person to model yourself after.

I know as long as I continue to play how I can play that I'll be OK, ... No one's ever safe. I know that and it's not a thing where I'm complacent or relaxed. But if I focus on what I'm doing every game, every play, I'll be all right.

I kind of expected it after the budget issue and all the building projects, but I was kind of disappointed still.
