biggest challenge city kids lake maybe results salt success
We have the facilities. The biggest challenge is getting kids out to the rink. Maybe between what we did in Salt Lake City and what we did here, we'll see the results of our success 20 years from now.
change relationship
It didn't change a lot of things. It didn't change friends or my relationship with my now-wife, or family.

For starters, it allowed me to find Wausau Insurance and Taco Bell. They allowed me to skate four more years. That was a huge way that it changed my life.

It was my first (Olympics). I was real excited about that. I skated real well the year before, but then the clap skates came out, so, I was anything but relaxed, because I knew I was a long shot, at best. Yet, a lot of people were expecting great things out of me, because they read about the season before.

It's stacked. In this race, just to win a medal you've got to skate awesome.

couple days fun guys prepare rink showing watch week
It's fun to watch guys like that. You can't do that just by showing up a couple days a week and being real recreational about it. You got to train, especially at that age. You've got to prepare and be around the rink a lot of hours. I give them a lot of credit.
argue decision hard
It's hard to argue with his decision not to do it.

As of yesterday, I wasn't sure if I would skate it. I've been sick.

He doesn't like to lose. And he was given a gift, a motor like the rest of us don't have. When we hit the wall, we hit the wall. We just lose function. But he just doesn't do that.

He not only won, he blew everybody away.

He came on at the right time. He's on fire right now. He deserves a lot of credit for that mentally.
grinding guys
That's a man's race. You'll have guys really going for it, really grinding it out.
