We can't control what the other teams do. One thing that we have going for us, or against us depending how you look at it, is that we're playing teams in our division and teams that are in the wild-card race. We've got the opportunity to make it or break it.

We'll be playing exhibition games anyway, so I don't think it will be any different. You can get hurt doing anything. ... You can't live your life scared, so you've got to just go out and play.

I don't know much about how it was before I got here, but I can tell you we have a real good team and that creates a buzz. I feel pretty good about our chances. I'm not good at predicting anything, and after you spend a little time in the game you realize expectations don't mean nothing. I want to go to Spring Training and get in the winning mode. I want to meet some of the guys I've never met and try to see what we can do as a team and what we can't do and find a way we can complement each other.

I am excited about it, but you've got to keep things in perspective. You don't want to run out there crazy, like a chicken with no head. There's a job to do. There's a lot at stake, but you can't get caught up in the emotion.

A lot of people want to see Cuba measure up against a professional team so that's going to draw a lot of attention. In Puerto Rico everybody is looking forward to the game against Cuba. I think it's all about bragging rights.
