began chiefs days decline defense division extremely franchise grown iii injury lost mike ncaa nfl player prolific season since single starting
Mike Maslowski has been an extremely important player for this franchise since '99. He has grown with the Chiefs from his days as an NCAA Division III player, through NFL Europe, to starting linebacker and the most prolific tackler in a single season for this team. I don't think it's a coincidence that our defense began to decline when we lost Mike to injury in 2003.
coach decision game head remember win
I can't remember a regular-season game where a decision was made at the end of game to go for a win and not a tie, especially at home. Obviously, my head coach made the right decision.
active both coach moved plate run saw situation surgery time took
It's just a situation where he's run out of time on PUP active status. He had some more surgery done on that knee. They took out a plate and screws. Both (head coach Dick Vermeil) and I saw it and it was pretty substantial. I don't know how he moved around with that.
catching football game guy next practicing running runs saturday scoring seen slow turning
There was one guy out there with a football after a Saturday walk-through and it was Priest, ... He's practicing scoring a touchdown, catching the football, turning and running to the pylon in slow motion. cleared count doctors early football june people shocked start surprised tried
There were other times when people tried to count him out and then he shocked and surprised everybody, so it's too early to say. We'll see where we are in June or July.

It's not Priest's decision to make. Our player needs to prepare for the game, and you can't be in there with him.
anyone camp faster gotten training watches
It's a long season. You could see in training camp that there were spurts of this possibility happening. I think that anyone that watches us can see that we've gotten faster on defense, which is always key.

ask defensive expect maybe miracle transition turn
It's a lot to ask a defensive coordinator to come in and turn everything around in one year. It's maybe a one- or two-year transition period. You can't expect a miracle overnight.
people players time
A lot of people put a lot of time into identifying players that we think we can get and like to get and see where they fit,
city creates expect friday kansas league noon orders practice problems saturday squeeze suggestion trying
The other suggestion was to play in Kansas City at noon Sunday, ... We don't expect any hurricanes here. That was considered, but the league made its decision. It creates some real problems for us with travel, and with trying to squeeze a Thursday, Friday and Saturday practice all into Thursday. But we have to do what the league orders us to do.
choice draft good great help proof turns whether
But it always the same, though. The proof is how it turns out. It's all exciting. It's great now. But if they come in and play and they help us win, then I always say whether it's a draft choice or a trade, that was a good move. We'll see. We've got a lot to do.
charges situation volatile
Because of his efforts, a situation which could have been pretty volatile was not. There were no charges filed, no arrests.
