defensive everybody game looked mean played resistance scared
Terrible. I thought we started off terrible, no sense of urgency, no resistance on the defensive end. We played like the game didn't mean a thing. It's not everybody obviously, but as a team, collectively, we were awful. We looked more like we were scared than anything.
ball good job knock might moving offensive opened ourselves pass shots tonight trouble
Sometimes we get ourselves into trouble on the offensive end. We might pass up a shot, but tonight we did a real good job of moving the ball around and that opened up the shots we can knock down.
bad ball fire five four given guard pull ready shots space surprised wide
Sometimes they get surprised he's so wide open. With a guard like that, you've got to keep your space and be ready to fire when the ball comes to you and take the shots that are given you. There was about four or five instances where we weren't ready to pull the trigger, and we end up making it into a bad play.
both developing effective guys post productive stronger summer talked
Realistically, he's not going to play a whole lot at (center), because both those guys have been productive for us. But he's still going to get his chance. The things we talked about this summer were just getting stronger and developing a post game, as well. He's a big guy with a big body, and we want him to be effective down there on the post.
defense fourth keys proud quickness team though took won
Our defense took over in the fourth quarter, and I was proud of the way our team played. Even though we won the game, we have a lot of things to learn. Our athleticism and quickness are the keys to our team, and we need to use them to our advantage.
blew bottom chance momentum
It was a chance to get a little more momentum going, going into (tonight's) game. And we blew it. That's the bottom line, we just blew it.
blocking came great heck job quarter second space taking
Deke came in the second quarter and did a heck of a job. He was doing a great job of blocking shots, taking up space and that?s what we needed.
couple guys job rely
That's why those guys are here. Their job is to give us a boost, and be aggressive. We have a couple of guys who we rely on to do that, especially with P.J. (Brown) and Desmond (Mason) out of the lineup.
basketball good hard hats
That's just a very good basketball team. They come with their hard hats on every night. They're not going to make a lot of mistakes.
angry basketball bird compassion dealing help needs obviously start stop thinking
You're a little shocked. You're a little disappointed. I even got angry at first. But then you have to start thinking about the person. Bird obviously needs some help in dealing with this situation, so then you start having compassion for him as a person. You stop thinking about the basketball part of it.
ball care job obviously taking understanding win
We obviously have to do a better job taking care of the ball. But when you have 23 turnovers and you win the game, that's a plus. We've got to do a better job of understanding how important that ball is.
bigger gotten matter
We were real small. We've gotten bigger in a matter of minutes.
allowed body danny junior minutes struggling weeks
So I said, 'Let's take two weeks and get your body completely healed. That allowed us to get Junior back here ... and now we're not struggling with Danny going 40-plus minutes every night.
certain guys kids type wives
Most of these guys want some type of stability. They want to know where they're going to be, how long they're going to be there and if they have families, they want their wives to be there, their kids in a certain school. It's going to be a challenge.
