Bryce Homer Drewis an American college basketball coach and former player. He currently is the head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores. He previously served in the same capacity at his alma mater, Valparaiso, having succeeded his father, Homer Drew. Bryce's brother, Scott, also coached at Valpo before becoming the head coach of the Baylor Bears. One thing Jimmie does do is help our defense. He usually gets a steal, here or there, and helps get our transition game going. He's always a capable scorer. He can reel off three, five or seven points in a row. Hopefully, we'll get him back to full strength real soon.

It helps us a lot. The sad thing is, the last game he played before he got sick (vs. Oakland, Jan. 2) was probably his best game this year. We thought he had turned the corner in that game.

We're definitely excited about him coming here. He's a true 7-foot-1, with a very big wing span. He'll come in here with a lot of experience. I think that experience should help him make a contribution to our team right away.

It's time consuming at times. If I were the recruit, I'd probably go nuts if I got a lot of them. I'd probably delete all but three or four. But some kids really like getting text messages. They like to know you care about them. Every kid wants to feel important. It's a nice way to encourage them.
