best camp critical domestic eagerly february forward games january job months next position possible seeing six successful team towards view
We eagerly look forward to seeing our domestic players. We want to do the best job we can of making the roster as competitive as possible over the next six months so we can position our team to be successful in the World Cup. We view this camp and the games in January and February as critical towards our preparation for Germany.
beat deserved matter playing tonight usa
We got beat and we deserved to get beat. This was the USA playing tonight ? it doesn't matter who we were missing.
beat deserved
We got beat and we deserved to get beat.
afford based domestic eddie european example extra game guys included jim month numbers opportunity past players pope positions rest simply
We have some extra numbers in positions where we can afford the opportunity to look at some of the European players in this game and rest some of the domestic players. An example of that would be Eddie Pope and Jim Conrad. Based on play over the past month and a half, they would be included in this roster if we were simply basing it on performances. But we have guys we need to look at now.
allowed bit came created difficult felt good guilty hang home minutes number perhaps played punished sent
We played very well. I think we felt guilty of perhaps making things a little bit difficult on ourselves. We created a number of good goal-scoring opportunities and came up short, and that allowed Trinidad to hang around for 89 minutes or so when they could have been punished and sent home a lot earlier.
again games great location operations staging strategy success traveling venues work
We had great success in 2002 staging our operations in one location (Seoul) and traveling into our venues for games and we feel that strategy will work for us again in 2006.
achieve
We wanted to look at different combinations of players. We did achieve that.
base camp great hamburg hotel number situation training trips venue
We've made a number of trips there to look at the venue and the hotel and the training facility, and we think Hamburg is going to be a great situation for us as our base camp in Germany.
continue dominant hopefully number performance players team tonight
That was a dominant performance by our team tonight; I'm very pleased. A number of players tonight made statements; hopefully they'll continue to make statements.
believe came certain good player reason remains steve
I wasn't certain how he was going to do, but I can see differences in Steve between now and 2001 when he first came to us. He is a much more experienced player and he is a very good player, and if he remains healthy, there's no reason to believe that he won't be in our first 11.
expected goals obviously second
I was not surprised. We expected them to play the way they did. They had two obviously outstanding goals in the second half.
employment imagine might
I would imagine I'll find some kind of employment after the World Cup. If not, I might want to be a sportswriter.
advantage anywhere beat city mexican mexico proved
Mexico City is a lopsided advantage for the Mexican team. With the altitude, it makes it a completely different game. But we know that when we play them anywhere else, we can beat them. We proved that tonight.
clear games italy mean progress replay sat shook stands
I was there, I sat in the stands in Italy and shook my head, and I don't mean that as disrespect. It was clear we had a long way to go. We get to replay those games now, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of progress we've made.
