ace hear holding love pop
We're holding on to it. It's our ace in the hole. It's a pop song, but when you hear it, it makes you feel dirty. Everybody's going to love it.
best guys money music quite rock
I think rock music is getting better. The best (selling) music has been hip-hop for quite a while. So those guys are making the money and making the videos.
drawn effect english grew growing huge listening loving opposed
I grew up loving a lot of English bands, ... That has a huge effect on you. If I was listening to hip-hop as opposed to Morrissey when I was 13, I would probably be a very different musician. But that's what I was drawn to when I was growing up.
bars guitar keyboard learned played playing recorded second songs time wait
We can't wait to make the second album, ... We learned a lot on the road. When we made 'Hot Fuss' we recorded the songs just the way we played them when we were playing bars in Vegas. This time out we're going to take our time with the guitar and keyboard sounds.
good people
I think people become reliant on coffee. And that can't necessarily be a good thing.
basic reason religion
Basic religion is the reason we have morals.
compete mean plotting rap sitting
You can't compete with hip-hop. That doesn't mean I don't want to be as big as a rap star. I do - I'm always competitive. But there's this weird perception of me as someone who's sitting around plotting like a devil. It's not like that.
johnny open people religion shy u2
U2 have a lot of religion, also people like Johnny Cash and Elvis. Those people weren't shy about it - it's nice there are people who've come before that were open about it.
age cautious definitely lyrics positive uplift
I've definitely got a lot more cautious about my lyrics - I feel I want to be a positive force in the world, and I want to uplift people. That's something that comes with age.
america knew york
I've always had this thing about it not really mattering where you're from, because there's always been this big cloud over America saying you have to live in L.A. or you have to live in New York to make it. I always knew it didn't matter as long as you had the songs.
basically dirty grunge happened ignorant indie seen
Something happened in the nineties. There was a shift. I don't want to blame it on grunge or the rise of indie - but that was basically it. It was seen as dirty and kind of ignorant to have these ambitions, to want to be a big band.
family grew hated meet mormon nicest people religion
For the most part, the first thing people I meet that aren't Mormon say is, 'I grew up with a Mormon family. They're the nicest people I know.' So when I see these statistics that it's the most hated religion, I don't know where they're getting that from.
anger cannot compete dance dj gonna great music rock roll
Dance music cannot compete with a really great rock n' roll song. There ain't no DJ that's gonna play something that can take 'Mr Brightside' or 'Don't Look Back In Anger.'
gotten magical represent though understand vegas wrong
As I've gotten older, I've wanted to represent Las Vegas more. Represent the Southwest. It's a magical place. The desert. I do understand people's criticisms, but it's a magical place and a beautiful city, even though there are a lot of things that are wrong with it.
