ball chance couple ended game hit knew open pleased rest scoring tie weekend
I was real pleased with our weekend in general. We got down 13-1 to open the game ... Right away they hit a couple of 3s and got the ball inside; before we knew it, it was 13-1. We battled back to 20-17 and had a chance to tie it with a 3 and ended up not scoring the rest of the half.

It was a nice trip ... Our team got better.

We played two good teams. It's nice for our kids to get away.

She did a great job. She's been playing as well as she's been playing all year, the last two games, against Roswell and Clovis, and Cibola here. She played a heck of a game not to foul out.

We saw Las Cruces in the APS tournament. We didn't play them. Of course, Lori (Stephenson, Cibola head coach) played them (in a 63-39 LKCHS win in Las Cruces on Jan. 14). That'll help out; she'll give me tape.

We were down 15-10 at halftime. The Roswell coach told me if you could hold them under 50 points, that'd be amazing.

The best part is being able to get out on the court and being able to play after a rivalry-type loss.

I told our kids (the win) wouldn't be as big as a district game, because district games get you to the state tournament, and it obviously wouldn't be as important as a playoff game, but from where we were, at this point of the season, it was as important a game as we've played in a number of years this early.

I told our kids it was obvious from the crowd and Gallup that they were in a game. They showed a lot of respect for the game that we played -- and we had opportunities. We had some really good looks ... We played well enough to win.

We opened the second half on an 8-0 run and we're down two points, 27-25. And it strayed close like that throughout. Entering the fourth quarter, we're down four. They went into their patented delay; we ran out of gas. We just couldn't get the lead.

They trapped us, make us get the ball out of our hands. Our kids did a good job. (But) we missed about half our free throws and some easy shots.

They started a faster tempo. A reporter told me we got outscored 20-0 at one point. They came all the way back and led by four points. To make a long story short, it became a ballgame at that point.

Hopefully, they'll be OK by Thursday. There's different stuff going around. Megan was dizzy; she said she was sick.
