The mayor and I haven't spoken for some time now and I think it's because he's pretty mad about all of this.

I would characterize this as a disagreement among friends. I'm open to negotiating a resolution to this (dispute).

My current view after discussions (with Pacific Group) is that we weren't as close to an agreement as I thought we were.

I was willing to live with a lot of things I disagree with on this project if (Pacific Group) would just back away from my property.

I can certainly understand (the council's) position in wanting to do what's best for the city. I disagree that this (countersuit) is what's in the best interest, but I have no hard feelings towards them.
