William Laird Cowheris a former professional American football coach and player in the National Football League. In Cowher's 15 seasons as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team won eight division titles and made 10 playoff appearances. Cowher led the Steelers to the Super Bowl twice, winning one. His record speaks for itself. We came into the league together in 1992 and I have nothing but tremendous respect for him and what he did in Green Bay and now in Seattle. We served three years together on the NFL competition committee, so I got to know him more as a person. I think the world of him and Kathy and his daughters. It's funny that he's got four girls and I've got three girls, so we've got a lot in common.

We've been somewhat of a desperate team for a long time. I think we need to continue to play that way. Like I said before, we are still the same team that, seven weeks ago, not a lot of people were giving us a chance.
