It's a combination of things. Sometimes we've missed blocks. Sometimes we've missed an assignment and didn't block a guy that we should have blocked.
That is a lot to make up against a team like this. We didn't play well enough. I think that goes across the board.
That's a game-breaking skill, but along with that, he has a lot of power. He's good on the goal line and short-yardage situations. (He's) tough to tackle. He's fast, (has) good hands (and) is pretty good in blitz pickup. He does a good job.
They've both been very dependable. They have gotten a lot of snaps. They've been able to be out there on a weekly basis and understand it and get better. I think they've improved. I think they started at a good level and I think they've improved with each game. I think they're doing well and I think they can do better. There are some things that they need to work on. They're both instinctive football players, smart guys that when you tell them something, they understand it.
They run the ball. He throws it downfield. They pick up third downs. They control the game.
They try to get the defense to declare. They overload formations. They balance you up. They have a very good, diversified attack.
They're 12-4. If the playoffs weren't set up the way they were, they'd probably be playing at home, (but) they're in the same division as Indianapolis.
They ran the ball at will; they passed the ball at will. They have good offensive football players. They play both inside and outside and just beat us all-round.
A lot of guys you?re looking at in college haven?t played on their feet and on first and second down, that?s probably where they would be playing for us. We?re looking at projecting guys who were down, to projecting them up to playing on their feet and that?s definitely a conversion.
A lot of people think you just give the ball to a back and watch him run and that's all there is to it, like they do in high school. But understanding how each block is being made on the line, depending on how the defense unfolds after the snap, is a big part of it.
Almost 75 years of football gave him a vast knowledge and reverence historically for the game that very few could match, ... He coached everything, and his ability to teach and interact with people has really come back to me in my lifetime and in the last few days.
Al's never really hired a defensive coach, Al's hired offensive coaches. That was the first question I asked him when I came out here was, 'What am I doing here?' A big part of Al's involvement with the team is on the defensive side of the ball.
